Refund policy

Subject to legal review. This policy is written to be fair and to be kept; it has not yet been checked against the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act and the Consumer Protection Act. Where the final legal position gives you more than this page does, the law wins and we will say so here.

The short version

30 days to change your mind, from the day you were charged. Ask and we refund — no reason needed and no questions asked.

When the window closes early

A Giftling subscription is bought for an occasion, and the occasion is the thing it delivers. So the window closes at whichever of these comes first:

30 days after the charge;
the day before your child's birthday; or
the moment you publish a Christmas registry.

This is not fine print to catch you out — it is there so a subscription cannot fund a free birthday and then be handed back. You are told the closing date before you pay, and it is shown in your account.

The 7-day floor

The rule above could otherwise leave a parent who subscribes a week before the party with no cooling-off period at all. It never does: you always have at least 7 days, whatever else the calendar says.

After the window

The subscription runs to the end of its term and does not renew if you cancel. Nothing you have built is removed, and your ledger — every gift your child has ever been given — stays fully visible whether you subscribe or not.

The Keepsake and additional children

The one-off Keepsake follows the same shape as subscriptions: 30 days to change your mind, closing early once the archive has been opened, and always at least 7 days. An additional child is part of your subscription and is refunded with it inside the same window.

Renewals

Renewal is annual, R 899 for Premium and R 1 499 for Pro, and lands about three weeks before your child's next birthday. We email you before it is taken. If a renewal catches you by surprise, tell us within your refund window (up to 30 days — it can close earlier at the birthday or a Christmas publish) and we will refund it.

Payments that fail

South African cards paying an international subscription are sometimes declined for reasons that have nothing to do with you. Nothing is switched off when that happens: we retry over about three weeks, tell you, and give you a way to confirm your card. Your child's pages stay live and family can keep giving throughout.

How to ask

Email hello@giftling.co.za from the address on your account. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, usually within a few working days.
