Opening a SatrixNOW account for your child
SatrixNOW is EasyEquities with Satrix branding — same rails, same fees, same vouchers. Here is how to add a child's account.
What to do
- Open your own account and complete FICAAs with EasyEquities, you are verified and the child's account sits under yours.
- Profile menu → “Add Your Child's Account”The same flow under a different label.
- Enter the child's details, including their SA ID numberAvailable from about two to three months old. You cannot open the account before it comes through.
- Wait for verificationElectronic, usually hours, at most 24.
Then, in Giftling
Add it to your child's Giftling page under Investments and mark the platform as SatrixNOW. Givers get the account details to pay by EFT, and a voucher button that needs no account of their own.
Worth knowing
- SatrixNOW's own words, and they are exactly what Giftling is for: “You can purchase an investment voucher, which… doesn't require the buyer to have a SatrixNOW account. This means that your family and friends can contribute to the minor's investments.”
- The R25 a month Thrive fee is waived for under-21s, so a child's account costs nothing to hold.
- A R500 voucher costs the giver about R518.85 in the platform's own fees.
Before you redeem anything
Redeem gifts into the child's ordinary (ZAR) account, not a tax-free savings account. Tax-free limits are R46,000 a year and R500,000 for life, they count across every provider a child holds an account with, and going over costs a 40% penalty on the excess. A registry is exactly the thing that tips someone over — several relatives, twice a year. Giftling cannot see a child's other accounts and never tracks how much of the allowance is left.
You do not have to do any of this
None of this is required. A bank transfer already works on your child's page, arrives whole, and costs nobody a fee — these rails are only for families who want givers to have another way to pay.
Checked 10 September 2026. Giftling is not affiliated with SatrixNOW, earns nothing from this page, and never handles your gift money — every rail here is your own.
